Sunday School for kindergarten through 8th grade is held on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. during the school year. The whole Sunday School first gathers in the sanctuary for the opening and then breaks into age groups.
"...Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14 ESV).
Youth in 7th and 8th grades meet weekly with Pastor Lytle during the academic year for instruction in the tenets of faith using The Holy Bible and Luther's Small Catechism. Following instruction, they are invited to publicly confirm their faith in Christ.
"But what does it say? 'The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart' (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:8-9 ESV).
Youth meet regularly for Bible study and prayer, fun fellowship activities, and acts of service.
Leaders encourage commitment to a life-long relationship with Jesus.
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5 ESV).
Our pastor joins in youth activities and provides spiritual guidance.
"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving" (Colossians 2:6-7 ESV).
"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love" (Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV).
In word and song, the Sunday School children present the glory of God's gift to us in His Incarnate Son at Christmas.
"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth" (John 1:14 ESV).
